Inauguration Ceremony in Lansing

Our nation is definitely not where

it started...

It began with a fear of God

and a respect

for His Word.

Although, we see

more often now

laws being passed making

what is right seem wrong,

and what is wrong

seem right...

God is still

working.

In Michigan State's Capitol building...

in the Senate's chamber....

there is yet a copy...

of God's written Word.

And there are still those who

will stand for

truth...

It was a blessing and privilege

to witness the swearing in

of

Senator
Tupac A. Hunter

for another four year term.

May the Lord give him wisdom

and grace to continue to

be salt and light...

and may we continue to pray

for those in authority

in our nation...

that many more would be

turned to Christ as Savior...

and

that He would

revive our nation.

May the generations to come

see the power of God.

We had a great time!

Although we were not allowed

to sit in the actual

Senator's seats...

we got as close as possible.

= )

Here's Tiff in front of Tupac's

seat...

then Brit...

and Kyle...
Hmmm....

looks promising!

Even the hallways

have character.

Originally the walls were
white, but when they
restored the building
the walls were painted with
beautiful designs.

Brit and Krissy

Across the hall from the

Senate chamber

was another

room

where laws are made

and

bills passed...

A representative may serve three

two year terms.

This is where Tupac

started...

He served two terms as a

State Rep.

This was a very interesting

and informative

print we saw hanging...

The tiny print underneath states...

"An 1872 engraving of the first

seven blacks elected to

Congress---All as republicans..."

We also had a tour of the State Capitol building.

This is the room where our tour began.

The tour guide shared many

facts about our State's history.

This is the architect who

designed Michigan's

capitol as well as the plans for

four other states.

The building now located in Lansing

is actually the third

capitol built in Michigan.

The first building was located in

Detroit near the Canadian

border.

Due to the vulnerability

of being near a waterway,

and therefore being

easily accessable to enemy troops,

the second building was built in Lansing.

Did you know that

January 26, 1837 is the day

Michigan became a state?
(Just a bit of random info.)
Learning facts on a tour is much

more fun than in a history class!

(continuing with the previous train of thought)

The final building was built in 1879

and has since gone through

restoration.

Throughout the building there are portraits of every governor

that has served in Michigan.

There is only one portrait of

a U.S. President displayed.
Why?

Because he was from Michigan.

Can you tell who he is?

Yep...

Gerald Ford!

O.K. so that's all the state

trivia we've got...

'cause that's all I remember!

= )

Here's the door to the governor's office...

Up close and personal...

There is such ornate detail
all over this building.

Even the hinges have the

Michigan seal engraved.

They don't make buildings

like this any more.

Here's the ceiling of the Governor's office

with the original paint!

They certainly don't make paint like this anymore either.

We were not able to enter the office,
but we could peek in through the doorway.

In the center of the building you can look
up into the dome.

The top of the dome is over 100ft high!

This beautiful sight is best seen...

from the floor below.

Wow, detail down to the doorknobs!

Our final moments were spent

in Senator Tupac's office.

Tupac's parents....

A miniature Sen. Hunter...

Future leaders of America...

These are two faithful constituents
who attend all of his informal
meetings.
They've even been his invited guests
to church services
at Grace Bible Chapel.

We had a wonderful time Tupac

and

we are thankful to the Lord
to have you as a brother and uncle!

The Lord bless you!
